What if I told you the whole universe was created by measurements on earth?

This sounds crazy but it is what both theory and observations lead us to believe.

In a speech Eugen Wigner one of the founders of the orthodox interpretation of quantum mechanics gave in German in the late 80's he stepped back from his earlier support of the idea that consciousness causes the collapse of the wavefunction. He said this interpretation could easily lead to solipsm when considering how different observers lie on the past light cone of each other. As I argue in my book "Quantum Gravity and the Role of Consciousness in Physics" this solipsism is prevented on earth by entanglement, yet on a cosmolgical scale it is inevidable. Quantum mechanics potentially leads to solipsism. This is prevented by entanglement on earth, but on a cosmological scale it makes us being alone.

This means all the universe around us is created by measurements here on earth. Yet all we get in touch with is lightrays and thus only these lightrays showing us a retrospectively created plausible past are real. Since we see the universe only as it was (or could have been) in the past, only flying out there can make the universe more real. When we do so, what we find must always be in accordance with the potential reality that was created during the last 1.5 billion years that conscious beings are around on earth.

What is the evidence?

First there are the CMB anomalies discovered by Max Tegmark and others. They show that the cosmic microwave backround is alligned with the equinox and the ecliptic, having the cold spots being at the direction of the north and south poles of the earth and of the earths orbit around the sun (making a total of four main cold spots) (Max Tegmark; 2003). And why would they be there?

It is simple: there are less observers at the north and south poles.

The first discovered anomaly in the CMB was the so called "axis of evil" which is a general north south asymmetry in the CMB. It was always believed that it could be explained away by assuming that the milkyway is in motion torwards the northern hemisphere of the universe, creating a redshift. However, as the Indian astronomer Ashok K. Sengal showed these asitropies exists in other types of radiation as well and trying to explain them away by a motion of the local group leads to totally different speeds and directions.

The existence of these CMB anomalies is generally admitted by the whole of the scientific community. However, except of some attempts from Roger Penrose who sees in them fingerprints of the last eon (universe), the majority keeps cilent about them.

The Augmented Universe

One can tell the age of the (experienced) universe in a similar way one can tell the age of a tree: by counting layers.

Yet that is not all. The galaxy distribution around us shows signs of having being influenced by the frequency with which we measure the universe. Every time we enter one of the two main spiral arms of our galaxy the measurement frequency is very low. This leads to a periodic up and down of the measurement frequency influencing how the wavefunctions of the universe collapses and thereby retrospectively creates the universe's past. The result is a universe in which there is a maximum of galaxy density every 250 million light years. As one can see on the Sloan Digital Sky Survey map there is a concentric shell patern visible to the naked eye that when analysed turnes out to be statistically highly significant (Hartnett; 2008).

Is this the end of all science fiction?

Not really: Having no aliens doesn't mean we can't colonize the galaxy. Also when reaching very high speeds time slows down and that means we can reach any point in the galaxy within a lifetime. That also means we can reach times in the future when the galaxy is already fully colonizeđ. And although that all will have started from earth, the universe will still be not less exiting than a universe that had aliens in first place.
